Rev. James N. Greene III

Reverend James N. Greene III is a pastor with a vocation for strategic business management and a heart for vibrant church administration. Having accepted the divine calling to ministry in 1998, he was ordained in 2004. A native of Georgia, James has been stationed in both the 6th and 7th Episcopal Districts and currently serves in the 5th Episcopal District. He is presently the pastor of both Armstead CME Church in Florence, AL, and Lesley Temple CME Church in Tuscumbia, AL. Both congregations made significant progress under his leadership and continue to grow.
The legacy of CME service continues strongly with James. A third-generation CME pastor, both his grandfather and father attended the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) for Seminary training. Also, James’ grandmother and mother served as delegates for the Women’s Missionary Council.
James Greene has maintained a bi-vocational career for more than 15 years. James is a Senior Consultant for a digital transformation company, where he leverages 20 years of experience in project management, logistics management, and transportation operations to facilitate organizational change management and process redesign. He thrives on objective and innovative problem-solving and organizational process improvement. He is credentialed in Army Contingency Contracting and has served as a Contracting Officer Representative on numerous federal contracts.
He became a registered financial advisor (Series 7) in 2000. His finance work evolved to focus on public and non-profit financial management. He is currently completing certification as a public finance manager to further credential his experience in finance, budgeting, and fiscal management. He continues to work with small developing businesses by consulting on strategic business initiatives.
James relocated to Huntsville, AL following transition from the US Army as a Logistics Officer. His last assignment was in New York, where he served as the Supervisory Logistics Operations Officer, supporting more than 10,000 Soldiers and a budget of approximately $12 million annually.
James graduated from the University of Rochester and he holds a Master’s in Public Administration, with a focus on Management and Finance, from Columbia University in New York.
James is a member of the American Society for Public Administration and the International City/County Management Association. He received the General Louis Duckett Leadership Award and the US Army Bronze Stars for service.
He is a proud member of the Kappa Nu Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
